01
Why
My husband loves One Piece, so I organized a themed party for his birthday and wanted a gift he could play through.
02
What it does
A pirate letter tells him that Luffy has sent him a Devil Fruit, which he has to open with his hands. The phone camera reads his gestures: he pinches and spreads two fingers to open the chest, makes four eating gestures to finish the fruit, and then shows a heart with his hands. Warm words for him appear on screen, followed by our photo.
03
How I built it
I started in Figma Make, then moved to Cursor to finish the app and deploy it on Vercel.
04
What I learned
Gesture recognition was the hardest part to get right, and the part that delighted him most.
